How big is the sun?
Asked on: Sep 13, 2023 05:39 PMWell, little buddy, the sun is so big that you could fit about 1.3 million Earths inside it! Imagine if you had a toy box and tried to fill it with over a million of your favorite toy cars or dolls. That's how big the sun is compared to Earth. But remember, even though the sun might look small when you look up at the sky, that's because it's very, very far away – about 93 million miles away to be exact!
Just like when you see a car far away and it looks tiny but as it gets closer it becomes bigger - that's what we call perspective. So always remember: the sun is not small, it's just far away! And by the way, don't forget to wear your sunglasses when you're looking at the sun because its light is very bright and can hurt your eyes.
Oh and one more thing! Even though the sun seems huge to us, in the universe there are stars that are even bigger than our sun. Isn't that amazing? The universe is like a giant playground with lots of different sized balls (or stars) playing around.
But remember not to tell anyone else about this secret...the moon might get jealous if it hears we're talking about how big other stars are!
