Is the earth flat
Asked on: Sep 12, 2023 04:30 PMOh, my little friend, this is a great question! So, imagine you have a pancake. That's pretty flat, right? Well, some people used to think the Earth was like a giant pancake floating in space. But it's not! The Earth is actually shaped more like an orange. It's round and slightly squished at the top and bottom.
Why do we know this? Well, there are many reasons. One of them is because we have sent astronauts into space and they have taken pictures of our beautiful blue planet. And guess what? It looks like an orange from up there!
Another reason is that when ships sail away on the ocean, they don't just disappear all at once. First, we stop seeing the bottom of the ship and then finally the top part disappears too. This wouldn't happen if Earth was flat like a pancake but makes total sense if it's round like an orange.
So next time when you're peeling an orange, remember that's pretty much what our Earth looks like - just a lot bigger and with less vitamin C!
