A supernova is like a big explosion in space! It happens when a really, really big star gets super old and runs out of fuel. When that happens, the star collapses in on itself and then BOOM! It explodes and shines really bright for a while. It's like the star's grand finale before it disappears. Supernovas are so powerful that they can even be seen from really far away. Isn't that cool?
