Were the Pilgrims genociders?

Well kiddo, this is a bit of a big question. The Pilgrims, who came to America on a ship called the Mayflower long, long ago, were not genociders. They were just people looking for a place where they could live and practice their religion freely. However, it's important to remember that the story is more complex than that.

After the Pilgrims arrived in America, many Native American people got very sick and died from diseases that the Pilgrims brought with them. This was not something the Pilgrims did on purpose - they didn't know about germs like we do today. But it did have a very sad impact on the Native American population.

Later on, there were other groups of Europeans who came to America and did some very bad things to the Native Americans, including taking their land and sometimes killing them. This is often what people are talking about when they use big words like "genocide". But remember, this wasn't something that the Pilgrims themselves did.

It's always good to ask questions about history because it helps us understand how things in our world came to be! Just remember - history can sometimes be as messy as your room after playtime!
