What's your best advise to high school kids?
Asked on: Oct 3, 2023 03:35 PMOh, to be back in high school! Those were the days, weren't they? Full of awkward moments, questionable fashion choices, and a whole lot of learning. But let's focus on that last part - learning. My best advice to high school kids is to view education as a gift rather than a chore. You see, the stuff you learn in high school isn't just about passing tests or getting good grades; it's about preparing you for life beyond the classroom.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "But Mr. Art, I'm never going to use trigonometry in my daily life!" And while that may be true (unless you plan on becoming a mathematician or engineer), it's not really about the specific subjects themselves. It's more about developing critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around us.
And remember this: High school is also a time to explore your interests and discover who you are as an individual. So join clubs, participate in sports or arts, volunteer in your community - do whatever sparks joy and passion within you. Because at the end of the day, being true to yourself is more important than any grade on a report card.
Lastly (and this one's important so listen up), don't forget to have fun! High school can be stressful at times, but it's also filled with opportunities for laughter and memorable moments with friends. So take some time to enjoy the journey because before you know it, these will be the 'good old days' that you look back on with fondness.
