Well, the smallest particle that we know of today is called a "quark". Quarks are tiny particles that make up protons and neutrons, which are found in the nucleus of atoms. To give you an idea of how small they are, if an atom was the size of a football stadium, a quark would be about the size of a marble! Now, that's really teeny-tiny!
But wait there's more! Quarks themselves are made up of something even smaller called "strings", according to string theory. String theory suggests that everything in the universe is made up of tiny, vibrating strings of energy. However, this is just a theory and hasn't been proven yet.
So for now, we'll stick with quarks as the smallest particles we know about. But who knows what scientists might discover in the future? Maybe there's something even smaller out there waiting to be found!
