Adolf Hitler was a man who lived a long time ago, around the time your great-great-grandparents might have been kids. He was the leader of a country called Germany from 1934 to 1945. Now, sometimes people can be good leaders and sometimes they can be not-so-good leaders. Unfortunately, Hitler was one of the not-so-good ones.
He had some very, very wrong ideas about what makes some people better than others. He thought that people with blonde hair and blue eyes were the best, and he didn't like people who were different, especially Jewish people. This led to a really big and sad fight called World War II.
During this time, he made some really bad choices that hurt a lot of people. Because of him, millions of innocent people lost their lives. It's important for us to remember this so we make sure nothing like it ever happens again.
In the end, when it looked like he might lose the fight, Hitler decided to end his own life. Even though it's a long time ago now, we still talk about him because it's important to remember how bad things can get when someone with wrong ideas gets too much power.
